OVERVIEW OF DAY SCHOOL

The Forest Hills United Methodist Day School is a licensed, three-star program and a ministry of the church, serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and parents of the church and the community. Our mission is to provide each child a safe and secure, loving and nurturing environment, in which children learn through developmentally appropriate play.

CREATING LEARNING EVERYDAY

Our daily schedules and lesson plans are posted in each classroom and they are aligned with the TN Early Learning Developmental Standards. Each day is structured around discovery and creative learning. Children participate in various age appropriate activities that enhance and promote fine motor skills, language development, creative expression, emotional development, letter & number recognition, writing (for older children) and learning through play.

CHAPEL

We meet for chapel monthly, every second and fourth Wednesday and Thursday mornings, in the Sanctuary. At chapel we worship God together through engaging in child friendly prayers, praising God through songs, hearing God’s story, and learning about the love of Jesus Christ. We pray that each child may experience a taste of God’s grace and love as we worship, learn, and grow together in chapel throughout the year.

MUSIC

Exposing children to music in early development helps them learn sounds and the meaning of words. Music and Movement will provide children the opportunity to explore rhythm, melody, dance and creative expression. Not only will children learn the fundamentals of music but their developmental skills, social skills and self expression will be enhanced.By using creative and original songs, children love exploring the joys of music.

COMMUNITY HELPERS

We love having members of our community visit with the children and teach them about our City! Here the Metro Mounted Horse Patrol and Metro Fire Department visit and teach us about safety.

AND MORE…

In addition to our daily schedules of developmentally appropriate learning and fun-filled activities, we also offer a variety of activities for the children throughout the year. Some examples are: Halloween Parade, Christmas Program, Nashville Public Library Puppet Show, Pajama and Donut Day, and Graduation Day (for upcoming Kindergartners only)

FAQs

Through the teaching of Christian values, children are educated and affirmed toward responsible behavior and positive character development by means of diverse programs, administered with the love of Christ.

Every year, during our registration in January, we start a new waiting list. Those on the waiting list from the previous year do not move to the new list. If a spot becomes available before the school year starts, or during the year, we will call you if you are next on the list. Though we cannot predict when and what spot will become available, we do turn to our waiting lists every school year.

Unfortunately not. Children currently enrolled are the only children guaranteed a spot for the next school year. However, during registration church members have a high priority and are in the second lottery group (out of 5).

Infants and toddlers may choose any combination of days ranging from one to five days. Twos, threes, fours, and fives may choose a T/TH, M/W/F or M-F schedule.

Our regular school day is 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Before care (Rise and Shine) is from 8:00-9:00 a.m., and after care (Stay and Play) is from 2:00 – 2:55 p.m. daily.

Please call us for our current rates.
